I know, I know…. White Elephant gifts are not for a specific person and can be stolen from the original recipient. My strategy is to think about who will be there. Be it family members, office mates, book clubs for my friend group, I try to come up with a present that will for sure appeal to at least one person, if not several. All the participants bring one wrapped gift to submit to the pile. I usually bring a useful gift with someone in mind. Depending on the crowd you will also find gag gifts or funny gifts too. My family used to have a very 70s pair of plaid pants that was re-gifted in the swap every year. It was hysterical to see who got it each year and had to put them on.
